THE FIRST AMERICAN uses extensive historic reenactments, including reenactments of the Siege of Boston, The Battle of Long Island, The Crossing of the Delaware, and the Battle of Trenton. The film features Robert Lyons as George Washington and Beverley J. Simmons as Martha Washington.

THE FIRST AMERICAN was shot in 4K on location at Mount Vernon, in Philadelphia at Independence Hall, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and at historic colonial estates along the James River in Virginia.

Interviews with leading historians include Victor Davis Hanson, Douglas Brinkley, Joseph Ellis, H.W. Brands, Edward Lengel, Edward Larson, Jane Hampton Cooke, Bill Forstchen, Gay Gaines, Allen Guelzo, and Walter Isaacson.
